North Texas Adult Education and Literacy (NTAEL), is a Texas Workforce Commission funded program that resides as a department of Denton ISD. NTAEL proudly serves Denton County by providing English as a Second Language (ESL), High School Equivalency (HSE), Career Pathway (CPW) certification classes, and Workplace Literacy.
NTAEL is an ongoing program that runs classes all year round with student enrollment every week and offers online and face-to-face classes in Denton County. We prepare adults for higher academic instruction or skills training that leads to employment and self-sufficiency. English Classes
English as a Second Language Classes (ESL)
Learning a new language can be intimidating, but not impossible. When given the right opportunities you will be surprised at how far you can push yourself. North Texas Adult Education & Literacy offers English as a Second Language classes (ESL) ranging from beginning to advanced.
Meet online with an instructor or in face to face classes and gain access to our curriculum all at no cost to you. Classes are ongoing and all year around, register today to start learning English with peers.

High School Equivalency Classes
High School Equivalency Classes (HSE)
Thinking about getting your high school equivalency (HSE) by taking the GED test? It’s never too late to achieve this goal, let North Texas Adult Education & Literacy (NTAEL) help pave the way for you! NTAEL offers GED prep classes that help prepare you to feel confident enough to take and pass the test.
Classes are ongoing and offered all year long both in-person and online. Register today at no cost.
*If you are 18 or younger you must have a guardian's consent and have your school withdrawal papers.

Career Pathway Classes
Welcome to Career Pathways!
Career Pathways (CPW) at North Texas Adult Education and Literacy (NTAEL) gets students from where they are to where they want to go. Courses can range from continuing education, workforce integration classes, in-demand job training, or re-entry and corrections services.
There are currently four pathways you can take in Career Pathways, depending on your needs:
Integrated Education and Trainings (IETs) are courses geared toward workforce preparation and training that lead to in-demand industry certifications such as Phlebotomy Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Nurse Aide, and more. Please note that all classes are taught in English.

Internationally Trained Professionals (ITPs) are advanced classes for students with university degrees from outside the United States. These courses place an emphasis on preparing you for the workforce or entering a university in the United States. Please note that all classes are taught in English
**These two options are for businesses or partners only:
Re-entry and Corrections Services are classes geared toward individuals who have been incarcerated and need help with a successful return to the community after release.
Workplace Literacy Classes are courses geared toward employer partnerships. Partners work with North Texas Adult Education & Literacy to create classes for their employees, like English classes, GED classes, or customized programs based on partner needs. How Do I Get Started?
IET and ITP classes have some additional eligibility requirements. You’ll need to make sure that you complete registration for IET classes before the enrollment cutoff date.
Your next steps to join class are as follows:
- Complete the Interest and Eligibility Survey (see link below!)
- Attend your Eligibility Webinar (bookable after you complete your survey!)
- Complete Career Pathways Enrollment Week
Remember, you’ll need to complete all of the above steps in order to qualify for class!
